Australia - Camping - Byron Bay (Dave)

 January 1st - January 6th

After a great stay at Southwest Rocks we hit the road again for one of my favorite places in Australia, Byron Bay. 30 Years ago I lived on Bay Kebabs when my brother Rob and I were travelling up with our new Aussie friends for "Schoolies Week" and we stopped off in Byron for a weekend before continuing on to Surfers Paridise. It was just as delicious as I remember it. We also saw many Ibis in and around Byron but unfortunately unlike in Egypt where they are sacred and revered, in Oz they are held slightly less regard, referred to as "Bin Chickens." 😏We spent a lot of time surfing "The Pass" at Byron where there is a beautiful right hander you can ride all the way down the beach from the point.

Angie and I took a hike around the most easterly point in Australia to the famous lighthouse and it was
a really beautiful little hike. I would highly recommend walking along the beach to Wategos Beach and take the trail up.

We spent time in town as well just hanging out at Apex Park where Davie challenged a master to Chess and Simone and Naya climbed in the trees. We decided to split up one night and the dads took the boys out and the girls went for Mexican food. Byron was busy at this time of year but it was still a really lovely place to visit.
