Australia (Simone)

This month in Australia has bean SO fun, there is so much I love here and there are so many things to do here. here are the top 5 highlights:

1. the gold coast

In the gold coast my family and my cosins [Loki and Naya] and my ante [Michelle] whent to Wet and Wild, Movie world, and Sea world. My favorite one is Movie world, I loved the ride D.C rivals it is the fastes, tallest, and longest rollacoster in the sothern hemestfier. It was my cosin Naya's favorite ride to.

 

At all 3 amusment parks you could get this cup that gave you infanit soda,my cosin and I bought a cup together. On our second day we went  to Wet and wild for my birthday, we met up with my friend Mila and her family.My favorite ride there is kaboom. 



2. The beach and surfing

Going to the beach is so fun and relaxing aspeshelly in Astralia's hot sun. My favorite things to do are swimming, surfing, and sand castel billding. My cosins my brother and I did a naild it sand castel veshin. It was  Naya and I V.S Loki and Davie.



It was super fun.Swimming was also super  fun.But the curent was super strong and you had to walk alot.I also loved surfing alot to, I lernt how to stand on my second wave. Michelle and Naya helped me alot with surfing.They are realy good and so is Loki, he is the best in his family.

3. Hanging out with Naya

My cosin Naya is the exact same age as me so we get along every time we see them.Hanging out with Naya is defently one of the highlites of Astralia.

Naya  had a game on her switch called over cooked, we were so good and it was super fun. we also did alot of party waves together [a party wave is when two or more people do a wave together]. It is super fun hanging out with her. 

4. Camping 

For 2 weeks we went camping with Loki, Naya, Michelle[there dad stix whent home for work] and there friends Kai, Louie, Staycey, and Erryn.we stayed at alot of holiday parkes but I liked the one in Byron Bay the most. we met this kid bruno/"not Rex" and we all became his friend.

5. The animals🐨 

Some animals in Astralia are super cute, but Astralia is also known for creapy crawlys. But luckily I did not see that many bugs and more kangaroos and koalas.On north stradbroke island we saw baby joeys in their mamma's pouch. And one joey whent out of the poch and whent back in, it was so cute.

On our last day my dad my brother and I whent on a tour and got to pet koalas and take photos with them.
It was so fun.

Our stay in tigman village was so fun, we stayed there for 1 week and voulenteered planting mangrove trees, and in the afternoons I would go over to the school to teach the kids things, like math, english, and why they should protect the mangrove trees. I stayed in a dorm room with 2 other guys not including me and my dad. In the mornings, we had breakfast at 8:00, and started the voulenteer work from 9- 11 AM, before it got scourching hot out. The one thing that was my FAVORITE thing that I did here at Tigman village was the basketball court, it was an outdoor plaza that was covered by giant roof.  The kids from the village were so excited when I played basketball and teached at the school. Overall, I had a great time here and I thought it was an awesome experience! these were what the mangrove trees looked like.

Packing for a 9 month trip -Davie

Since we are traveling for a very long time, it's hard at first to decide what to pack! So even if you are going away for 1 month or more, these are the things that I highly recommend to pack in your suitcase! What to pack in your backpack: If you are traveling for a long time, it will get SO annoying if your backpack is very heavy, so I highly recommend to not put very heavy things in your backpack. In my backpack I have:  -my Nintendo switch -my homework  -my basketball  -and my water bottle  Also, try to think VERY carefully about what you are packing. I have sent countless things home with my friends and family. At the end of Japan, we sent a whole suitcase of things back with my Obachama and my Ojichama. For example, don't bring big fat headsets, try to bring airpods, earbuds, or wired earbuds if you can find them. Also things such as pants (bring only one pair), towels (most hotels have them), and big hoodies (don't pack more then one).  Get a cross body b...

Top Apps & Sites for Travel (Angie)

Travel Apps We Rely On We didn't have much planned before we left Vancouver for our 9-month trip. So we've been planning and booking as we go. Here are the important apps and sites we've been using! FLIGHT APPS To watch for the best flight deals, I've used Hopper and Skyscanner . Admittedly, when we go to book, we don't usually click from there but rather try to book directly with the airline to get the best deals AND to make sure we really understand the luggage allowances!  Tip : Skyscanner watches RyanAir discount flights in Europe, whereas Hopper does NOT seem to include that. Of course to minimize our costs, we have also maximized our points from Avion and Aeroplan! Luckily, managed to use points for 3 big flights. SHARED TRAVEL ITINERARY Since we're both contributing to booking flights, trains, cars, accomodations and tours, we share it all with each other in TripIt. We use the free version, but it has been so great to keep track of all our bookings, date...
