Phnom Penh, Cambodia (Davie)

When we arrived in Phnom Penh, i could already tell it was a third world country. There was garbage everywhere and the roads were bumpy but i didnt care. Our hotel was nice, it had a nice shower and two really comfy beds. When we checked in, evryone was so nice to us, they gave us drinks in nice cups, and it was so nice and refreshing in the blasting heat. Our hotel also had an awesome view since we were on the tenth floor. After getting settled into our hotel room, we went to go have lunch at the hotel on the top floor, The view was amazing, it felt like you could see the whole city from it! For lunch I had a ham and cheese toasty with hot chips, which was very yummy. After eating lunch, we went into the pool. It was very cold so it was so refreshing. but i couldnt open my eyes under water because the pool had so much chlorine. After what felt like a million years, we finnaly got out. Then we took a tuk tuk to the night market. There we had dinner. I had beef and noodles for a good price for $2.50. And a sugarcane juice for $1.00. The food was very yummy. After that was looked at a bunch of stalls for cloths, shoes, and other things. My sister got a pair of slides for $3.00 and my mom got pajama shorts for $1.00. After looking at all the stalls we got ice cream for another $1.00. It was really good! Then we took a tuk tuk back and went to sleep.

the night market

Today we had to wake up early to meet our tour guide for the day Kim. After eating breakfast, we met him in front of the hotel to go around the city in a tuk tuk. The first stop we made was at the kings pallace. There were pigions everywhere and the palace was very pretty. After that we went to a praying temple where alot of people were praying. We also saw alot of bats in a tree.

After leaving the praying temple, we drove to the other side of town to go to the killing fields where we learned about the president pol pot in 1975- 1979. He was a ruler that killed over 2 million people in 3 years. At the killing fields there was an audio tour that explained all of that stuff. It was really well done and intresting. After we learned about pol pot, we had lunch at a wetern restraunt. I had a ham and cheese toasty again because there so good, and i also had a mango slushie. That was also yummy. After lunch we looked at street art and looked aound Chinatown. By that point we were exausted by the heat so we went back to the hotel to rest and then we went to dinner. I had a steak and salad and a mango passion fruit smoothie. The food was also very yummy. Then we watched tomb raider and them went to sleep. The next day we relaxed in the pool in the morning and I did 100 laps of the pool before taking a boat to an island where they told us how they make silk. It was very intresting! After the tour we bought a slik skarf from them. It was very pretty.
pol pot's victims :(

After the tour we took a rest again at the hotel and then walked to a restraunt called David's noodles. The food was good, but not as yummy as the other restraunts. After dinner we watched fresh off the boat and then went to sleep. The next morning we packed our bags and then went to take a car to Siem Reap. Phnom Penh was a really cool city, the people were very nice, so I hope to come here again.
