Heraklion, Greece - Davie

Heraklion was our first stop in Greece, located on the island of Crete, the biggest island in Greece. After flying from Cyprus, we arrived in Heraklion at 2:00 AM, so we had to wait until the next day to do anything.

The next day we slept in because we went to sleep so late, but quickly got on the move after that. We went to multiple museums of Greece's history, like the Greek inventions museum and the Greek artifacts museum.

This invention made by the Greeks is my one of my favorite inventions [first one above] and is used to send messages from a far distance. The way that it works is that both of the people sending a message to each other have one of these things, and the first step is to hold out the torch until the other person does the same, then you wait 3 seconds before turning on the tap on the barrel below [you cant see it in the photo]. As you are letting the tap go, the stick above starts moving down slowly. When you want to send the  message, you stop the tap and hold up your torch so your reciver does the same. The paper at the bottem of the stick would be your message, and your reciver should have the same at the bottem too.

Besides all of the historical stuff, Heraklion is also a lively place at night, with lots of nice shops too! We tried Greek foodfor the first time in Greece, and as expected, it was very good. My favorite Greek foods are Greek salad, chicken souvlaki, Gyro meat wraps, calamari, and spanokopidas.
